For those new to MS Teams, this article provides a comprehensive guide to familiarize you with the platform and prepare you to collaborate with other MS Teams users. Additional training is available via Mason's Subscription to LinkedIn Learning.

To access MS Teams training recordings, visit the Files tab within the Collaboration Collective. This section also contains information on adding guests to teams, including eligibility criteria for members who do not have accounts on Mason's Office 365 system.

Team owners should note that workspaces must be renewed periodically to ensure they are being maintained and retired when appropriate. Team owners will receive notifications when it is time to complete the renewal process, which includes archiving old or no longer-needed workspaces and confirming that owner/member information is still correct.

Getting Started with MS Teams

To create a workspace with MyHub, access MyHub from Teams by clicking on the MyHub icon in the left navigation or via . Mason uses MyHub to manage existing teams and create new ones. Teams must have more than one owner to ensure that any team members who are no longer active faculty or staff are removed from active Teams.

As a Team Owner, you control who has access to your team, including adding members and other owners. For an overview of the MS Teams structure and roles, review the following information:

MS Teams on Linux

Microsoft has retired the Linux desktop client for MS Teams, so all users will need to transition to the web or PWA version. Get the MS Teams mobile app for Apple or Android from the app stores or from a browser on your mobile device.

For full functionality, ITS recommends using the MS Teams desktop application. You can access MS Teams through the application launcher on your Mason Office 365 account at via supported browsers.
